Androderm (testosterone patch) has become a popular treatment for middle-aged men who have low testosterone, or “Low T.” Advertisements for testosterone therapy promise that it will cure the most unpleasant symptoms of aging — low libido, fatigue, sexual dysfunction, and more. Our lawyers are concerned that these ads overstate the efficacy of Androderm and minimize risks like blood clots, heart attack, stroke, and death. If you need information about joining an Androderm class action, contact Schmidt & Clark, LLP.

What is Androderm?
Androderm is a transdermal system for treating low testosterone by delivering the hormone through the skin. It is marketed by Actavis Inc. (formerly part of Watson Pharmaceuticals).
Androderm is approved to treat hypogonadism, which is a severe hormonal deficiency often seen in men with missing testicles or genetic disorders of the pituitary or hypothalamus. It is not approved for men who are losing testosterone as a natural part of aging — testosterone levels normally decline by 1-2% per year after age 30.
FDA Safety Warning for Androderm
In January 2013, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) published a Safety Alert to announce an investigation into studies linking testosterone replacement therapy with a 30% increased risk of heart attack, stroke, and death within the first 90 days of treatment. Their announcement came just days after the journal PLoS One published a study finding that men over 65 were twice as likely to have a heart attack if they took testosterone.
What is the problem?
Schmidt & Clark, LLP is nationally recognized as a class action law firm, but we are not filing an Androderm class action lawsuit at this time. Instead, we are filing individual Androderm lawsuits and providing personal legal representation to victims of this defective product.
You may qualify for significant financial compensation if Androderm caused you or your loved one to suffer any of the following injuries:
- Blood clots
- Heart attack
- Pulmonary embolism
- Deep vein thrombosis
- Abnormal heart rhythm
- Organ damage
- And other serious side effects
About Class Actions
Class actions are useful when a large group of people have essentially the same legal claim against the same defendant. Instead of everyone flooding the legal system, they consolidate their claims into one lawsuit and choose a “class representative.” The success or failure of the class action depends on the representative’s case. Lawyers are typically paid a percentage of the financial recovery, and members split the rest.
Why Our Law Firm is Filing Individual Lawsuits as Opposed to an Androderm Class Action
Class actions have a number of advantages in certain circumstances, but an Androderm class action could also be detrimental for people who were seriously injured. They may be forced to accept high attorney’s fees an a “low-ball settlement.”
At Schmidt & Clark, LLP, our lawyers believe every man who had a heart attack, stroke, or other serious Androderm side effect deserves the opportunity to present his case before a judge and jury. We are concerned that drug-makers ignored evidence linking testosterone replacement therapy and blood clots, putting corporate profits above the health and safety of our clients.
Instead of a class action, we are filing individual Androderm lawsuits against Actavis Inc. (formerly Watson Pharmaceuticals) and other defendants. If you were injured, contact us to learn more about your legal options. We always review cases for free, and in most cases, we also provide representation on contingency-fee.
